Our Denomination - The Orthodox Presbyterian Church

The Orthodox Presbyterian Church is committed to the Glory of God by remaining true to the Bible yet speaking to the needs of our day. We practice the "Reformed Christian Faith" which means we hold to the Scriptural doctrines of the Protestant Reformation and rejection of popery and liberalism in its many forms.

The OPC began in 1936 as the Presbyterian Church of America and changed its name in 1939 to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Although the Church is "orthodox" meaning right or correct teaching it stems from the Western branch of the early church and should not be confused as implying Eastern Orthodox. Presbyterian is a scriptural distinctive meaning rule by elders, wherein scripture instructs us to elect representatives from within our body to fill the commanded offices that the Lord requires.

From it's ealiest beginnings the OPC has emphasized mission work, both at home and abroad. As a result of church-planting efforts we have experienced slow but steady growth. Covenant Reformed is one such effort in Evansville Indiana.
